This Midcentury Modern Renovation project was originally built by the Architect/Owner in or around 1959. Our client purchased the property in 2011 and tackled renovating the Kitchen/Living spaces as well as other areas of the home.
Originally built in 1938, this Classic Irvington Tudor Remodel has undergone successive renovations to help support an evolving family.
What began as a roof leak dilemma on the rear of a residence near Meridian Hills resulted in an Custom Awning Structure. WERK collaborated with architect and homeowner to rebuild the preexisting balcony and guardrails while introducing new upper and lower awning structures to shelter the home from future weather events. Aluminum prefabricated guardrail kit was utilized at walkway, and polycarbonate roof cladding was utilized to provide a rain screen while still allowing natural light into the south-facing windows. Exposed structure was stained white to work with the existing Colonial Revival exterior trims.
