A hill-crest retreat defined by structural precision, custom metal fabrication, and seamless indoor-outdoor continuity.

At WERK, we believe great modern architecture isn’t just designed—it’s executed. When HAUS brought us the plans for The Elevated Poolhouse perched along the hill-crest of an historic Traders Point estate, we knew the project demanded an unyielding commitment to precision building.

Rather than disturbing the property’s rolling topography with a detached downhill structure, the vision called for attaching a contemporary living pavilion directly to the pre-existing guest cottage. Building directly over prior foundations while tying into historic framing left zero room for error. Every plane had to align perfectly; every structural joint had to perform flawlessly.

Precision Execution & Custom Fabrication

Modernism leaves nowhere to hide, and this build was an exercise in clean, uncompromised detail.

Our team managed complex, steep-slope site logistics to establish the elevated concrete plinth that anchors the structure. To achieve the seamless indoor-outdoor transition, interior floor planes were flushed precisely with the exterior paver walkways and covered pavilion deck.

The project’s signature architectural element—the articulated privacy screenwall surrounding the outdoor entry and shower—required a custom-fabricated black steel mounting framework. We integrated high-durability composite wood slats into the steel assembly, maintaining tight, uniform reveals across the entire facade.

Concealed Engineering & Material Continuity

Behind the clean lines lies an array of high-performance building systems. We integrated motorized insect, solar, and wind shades entirely within the structural roof overhangs, hiding the roller tracks and mechanical housings completely out of sight.

Inside, material continuity was key. We extended the exterior composite cladding directly into the interior walls, custom barn door assemblies, and changing room cabinetry. From the floating vanity suspended on vertical cladding to the indoor-outdoor kitchen counters aligned on a single visual axis, every line was built with zero-tolerance alignment.

The result is a structure that feels as if it has always belonged on the site—a quietly confident retreat where modern engineering meets master craftsmanship.
